Small interventions were designed to modernise an existing tri-level townhouse, originally designed by Michael Dysart in 1974. Sited within the natural bushland setting with southern views across the Mount Painter Reserve, the new design connects to the surroundings through the use of sympathetic finishes, and by enhancing glimpses to the view from the occupiable spaces.
A new breakfast bar bench spans a previously unused space and creates a cosy spot to sit and look out to the bushland beyond. An existing roof void has been enclosed to create a loft with a roof window, with views south to the arboretum and beyond.
New works were considered in relation to the original architecture and sought to maintain the character of the home while providing extra amenity.
